Yannick Amirault, “Cote 50” 2018, Bourgueil
“Yannick Amirault inherited five hectares from his father in 1982 and has since transformed the domaine to one reputable of Bourgueil. Nowadays, this top domaine is increasingly run by Yannick’s son Benoît. The fruit for Cote 50 is sourced from his quality parcels located within the Bourgueil appellation.
Certified organic in 2019, here cabernet franc grapes are hand harvested and destemmed. Fermentation takes place in oak vats with a 3-4 maceration period and aging is in French oak vats and sandstone amphorae for 7-12 months. The resulting wine is more than just easy drinking Cabernet Franc, it has a concentration and weight to it that makes you stop and savour it. A new favourite among the staff here, it really delivers.
