Albamar 2020, Albariño, Rías Baixas 13%
Complex, multi-layered Albarino from vineyards by the ocean. Salty, briny minerality combined with a leesy texture and ripe fruits linger long on the palate. A delightful, artisanal wine from a family who has been farming vines for generations
Louro 2020, Godello, Valdorras 14%
Any profile of Rafael Palacios inevitably leads with his family history and while being a scion of a famous winemaking family in Spain is an excellent way to get attention it makes Rafa’s hard work and achievements seem fated or predetermined … The Louro is crafted from younger vines but is selected from plots that produce more age-worthy wines. Fermented with indigenous yeast and aged in used foudre, Louro showcases Rafa’s talent at balancing the minerality of the grape with the richness and texture of the elevage
Albahra 2019, Vinos Mediterraneos 12.5%
This wine is made from Garnacha Tintorera grapes grown at 800 metres altitude, and fermented with 40% whole bunches in large concrete tanks. Marked by ripe, earthy fruit, assertive tannins and fresh acidity, it’s an approachable and highly enjoyable wine. It’s also very versatile with food (we especially enjoy if with a nice plate of charcuterie and grilled meats). Perfect for a long, leisurely lunch.
Gotes 2019, Priorat 14%
Priorat is a mecca for those who love big red wines. The rugged landscape and intense heat produces old vine Garnacha worthy of its price tag, never cheap! A full bodied red wine that has those rich and spicy red fruit flavours like a raspberry tart. Despite the robust nature of the wine, it is very refreshing and has a silky, velvety mouthfeel. This is definitely a wine for those who love big, bold flavours.
Milu La Cometa 2019, Ribera Del Duero 14%
Germán Blanco is a revolutionary in Ribero del Duero, translating the traditional big, powerful, oak-aged powerhouses to elegant, full-flavoured wines, with silky texture and restrained power. Average Tempranillo vine-age is 60 years old for La Cometa and the vineyards are high altitude at approx. 900m above sea level. Totally de-stemmed and it’s bottled un-fined and un-filtered. Brilliant with BBQ or roast lamb.
Lindes de Remelluri 2017, Rioja 14%
The Lindes de Remelluri wines are an homage to the growers that have long worked for the estate and brought their grapes into Remelluri. Lindes means borders and they are made from vineyards in the surrounding villages of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida in Rioja. These grapes, which used to be blended into Remelluri’s main wine, are now allowed to shine in site-specific bottlings. A well- balanced wine, with a silky tannic texture and juicy concentration.
