Italian Icons Case of Six
We specialise in small production wines from Italy, many from family wineries who follow organic and sustainable vine growing practices. Italy’s classical wine regions are witnessing a dynamic and exciting revolution and there are some thrilling wines being produced, driven by innovative young wine makers, who have burst onto the scene over the last few years.
We have selected 3 bottles for this case, 2 bottles of each that allow you to explore what is happening in Italy, from the north to the south.
Monte dei Roari, Custoza, 2019, Boscaroi, (certified Organic) 12.5% (2 bottles)
Close to Lake Garda, the white wines of Custoza are somewhat unknown and often under-appreciated. This biodynamic wine from mainly Garganega, the grape of Soave, has lovely minerality and depth of flavour – a great segueway white to take you from summer to autumn.
Trebbiolo Rosso, La Stoppa 2018, Italy, Emilia-Romagna, (certified Organic) 12.5% (2 bottles)
This delicious wine is made from a blend of Barbera and Bonarda. Farmed organically and blended together in the cellars of this ancient wine estate, the resulting wine is a lively and juicy red with crunchy red fruit and refreshing acidity. Super versatile on the table.
Stefano Amerighi, Julie & Giuliá Syrah 2018, Tuscany (certified Organic) 13% (2 bottles)
Julie & Giuliá is made with 100% Syrah from organically farmed vines in the Cortona countryside of Tuscany. In this warm climate Syrah can flourish and Amerighi is its master. His Syrah wines are all made in a traditional and biodynamic way. The style is similar to great Syrah from Northern Rhone but has a combination of richness and freshness that is unique to reds from Tuscany. A super mix of fresh red fruits and light spicy notes. A wine of great balance and delicacy!
