Antoine Bouvet, Champagne, 2014
Antoine Bouvet works 5ha of vines across the villages of Mareuil-sur-Ay, Avenay Val d’Or and Bisseuil, an area that sits on the border of the Valée de la Marne and the Montagne de Reims. The domaine was founded by Antoine’s grandfather, Guy, in the 1970 and the majority of the selection massale vines were planted in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. The 2014 is the last vintage that Guy co-created, so holds a very special place in Antoine’s heart.
Roughly 60% is planted to pinot noir, and 40% chardonnay, though there is a small amount of co-planted pinot meunier. Since taking over sole management, chemical herbicides have been totally abandoned in favour of a shift to organic and biodynamic principles. Low production of about 600 bottles, minimal dosage at 1.5g/L
