“If you are looking for the next superstar producer in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, here you go!” Jeb Dunnock (Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate).
This is paired with a fresh, beautifully balanced Puligny-Montrachet from small producer, Domaine Larue’s lieu-dit, ‘Le Trezin’ Tasted a few days ago (December 2019, this showed lovely bright, soft apple fruit, with touches of creme anglaise and white flowers. Good mineral freshness, mid-weight and utterly enjoyable.
90 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate“Boiron’s 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape is a classically styled blend of 70% Grenache, 17% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and the rest other permitted varieties. Raised mostly in foudres, it offers ample Provençal garrigue, pepper, tobacco leaf and assorted darker fruits to go with a medium-bodied, nicely concentrated and balanced feel on the palate. Like with the Chante le Merle cuvee, it has plenty of tannin, so give it a year or two in the cellar. Built like an NFL linebacker, Nicolas Boiron produces some of the most traditional and structured wines in the appellation. Both of his 2013s were slightly closed at the time of my tastings, but they have lots of potential and will reward cellaring. (JD) (10/2015)
