“Flor and Albariza” tasting with Ramiro Ibáñez from Cota 45 and De La Riva.
Introduced by sherry educator Paddy Murphy.
Join us on the 23rd for what should be a fascinating evening with winemaker Ramiro Ibáñez from Sanlúcar de Barrameda offering a great insight into this historic wine region. Introduced by sherry educator Paddy Murphy we’ll look at the diversity of wines from this area, not just Sherry as we (think) we know it.
Ramiro Ibáñez, the talented mind behind Cota 45 goal is to revive tradition and fully express the unique terroir of El Marco de Jerez.
A visionary, Ramiro is one of the most knowledgeable winemakers in the region. Since 2009, he has been consulting for different bodegas, and in 2012 he started his own project, Cota 45, which he operates from a small bodega in a former boat repair shop overlooking the Guadalquivir river. He is an advocate for the preservation of history, a student of the soil, and is passionate about producing wine that truly reflects the distinctive terroir of this extraordinary region.
“Ramiro Ibáñez produces the best unfortified wines I’ve ever tasted from the Jerez region: sensitive, questing wines of great insight and nuance…” Andrew Jefford – Decanter Magazine
Bodegas Cotas 45 UBE Miraflores 2016 VdT de Cadiz – “A single-vineyard unfortified Palomino Fino that has been aged in old sherry casks, this is a quite unique and compelling wine; light, fresh, toasty, bready, with delicate apple fruits and a beguiling saline finish”. John Wilson, The Irish Times
